Eligibility for Status Holder Recognition

Any exporter of goods, services, or technology with an import-export code (IEC) number can be recognized as a Status Holder. The recognition depends on the export performance over the current and previous three financial years (for the Gems & Jewellery sector, the current and previous two financial years are considered).

Criteria for Recognition

  • Export Performance: Export performance is measured based on the Free on Board (FOB) value of export earnings in freely convertible foreign currencies.
  • Deemed Export: For deemed exports, the Free on Rail (FOR) value in Indian Rupees is converted to US dollars using the exchange rate notified by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) on April 1st of each financial year.
  • Performance Requirement: Export performance must be achieved in at least two out of the four years for granting status.

Status Categories

Exporters with an IEC number on the application date are eligible for recognition based on their export performance. They can be categorized as Status Holders upon achieving the required export performance thresholds as outlined in the Foreign Trade Policy.
