Investigative Report: Grand Bahama Power Company and #emra

At Grand Bahama Power Company, no effort is spared to harm our customers. We face outrageously high electricity tariffs, invoices that defy comprehension, and inexplicable consumption calculations. Up to five power outages occur daily, with electricity being cut off even for a single late payment. Risks from deficient installations are shifted onto customers, and every minor thunderstorm results in power failures. Hurricanes are not factored into planning, while our counterparts in the United States enjoy state-of-the-art technology and competitive pricing.

The discrepancies between our service and that provided in the US are stark. While American customers benefit from modern technology and best pricing, we in the Bahamas contend with outdated infrastructure and exorbitant charges. The disparity in treatment is glaring, leaving Bahamian customers frustrated and underserved.

The Grand Bahama Power Company, in conjunction with EMRA, must be held accountable for these systemic failures and inequities. It is imperative that measures are taken to rectify these issues promptly and ensure fair treatment for all consumer
