The increase in the corpus of the CGTMSE scheme from Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 2 lakh crore is quite encouraging. While it is a potential unlock for Rs 3 lakh crore incremental credit for the MSMEs where things get tricky is in implementation. Sarafs comments point to a critical factor: though policy announcements are significant in their own right, the proper execution of these policies at the ground level is even more important. The step-up in infrastructure with an enhanced outlay to the Ministry of Roads Transport and Highways would prove to be a game-changer for this sector.
