Introduction
Due to cross construction and other factors, the surface of the newly laid PVC homogenous permeability floor is frequently scratched throughout the project. Even a minor scrape can cause significant problems with acceptance. Sharp objects, when used on a daily basis, will leave scratches.
So, how do you fix a homogenous core floor after scratches? Linda met with the installers and summarized the following suggestions:
A. Grinding Repair Process.
Select proper cleaning products and procedures to thoroughly clean the floor surface.
Choose appropriate specific grinding discs and grind at a low speed. Avoid high-speed grinding. The floor will be scrapped immediately after it has been rubbed and heated up.
To avoid high temperatures during the grinding operation, we must spray a suitable coolant.
The sewage must be cleaned up in a timely manner during the grinding operation. If sewage remains on the floor surface for too long, it can cause irreparable pollution.
Following grinding, a water-based polyurethane coating should be put to the floor surface.
B. Heat treatment utilizing a welding gun to repair scratched homogenous vinyl flooring.
To repair minor scratches, use a hot air gun (for welding wires/welding rods) to set the temperature to 300-400℃ and bake the affected areas until the scratches disappear. The key premise is that heat shrinkage allows PVC to fill pits. Note that the temperature should not be too high. Adjust the temperature based on the severity of the scratch to avoid scorching a wide portion of the homogeneous vinyl floor.
A high-quality homogenous vinyl floor is easier to grind and repair, as shown in the comparison of before and after photographs.
